Cultural Chronicles Pictorial
The header images on this page and the About and Galleries pages were selected to portray a pictorial summary of content for the “smalltowns” themes. The library of 8 images will rotate among the pages so each time a page link is selected a different image will be displayed. The image contents represent the categories and themes on the smalltowns site.
The images on these pages and the smalltowns website are black and white. Many were scanned from late 19th century black and white photographs. Some color photographs were converted to black and white. Some black and white images were edited in Photoshop using a sepia color cast. This technique was common before color film was available. Blue or red ink was mixed with black for developing the print. This technique was used for some images on this site to increase contrast.
The About the Foundation page has captions for the header images on this site.
